Value Engineering (VE) re-engineers the product for material saving and ultimately reduces the product cost. To enhance the current practices followed in the VE approach, SSA Techknowlogies (SSA Tech) has provided the thought leadership by incorporating the Six Sigma DMAIC methodology in the VEDMAIC model. The important untapped areas like customer’s importance for deciding the worth & value of the product have been extensively factored towards developing this new approach of VEDMAIC. The traditional VE follows the Information phase, Analysis phase, Creation phase, Evaluation phase, Development phase, Presentation phase & Follow-up phase. The VEDMAIC follows the DMAIC (Define – Measure – Analyze – Improve – Control) methodology to improve clarity and deliverables at the end of each phase. VEDMAIC interfaces with the VOC (Voice of customer) for Function-Worth analysis to meet and exceed the customer’s expectations and bringing down the cost of the product significantly. As an upgrade to the current practices of VE, SSA Tech’s new model of VEDMAIC is quite comprehensive and prescriptive and helps designers to institutionalize these practices. SSA Tech will also include Key Task Scheduler as part of its VEDMAIC model. KTS is a project management tool, which guides the project team members throughout the journey stage wise. SSA is also developing VEDMAIC software, which helps in the application of DMAIC methodology in the organization.
